CamelBak’s Newest Hydration Pack Design

“LAS VEGAS — CamelBak Products LLC., unveiled a new pack design at SHOT Show 2015 that places the hydration bladder against the lower back.

The Rubicon is one of two backpacks with a special lumbar pocket that holds a three-liter reservoir.

“This is one of two packs we are launching this year with the lumbar reservoir,” Amanda Rodriguez, assistant product manager for CamelBak’s Government, Military and Industrial products, said at SHOT Show.

CamelBak engineers have used the lumbar-reservoir design on some of its recreation-style packs, she said. “This is where your body is meant to carry all the weight,” Rodriguez said….”

This Marine Was The ‘American Sniper’ Of The Vietnam War

Long before Chris Kyle penned “American Sniper,” Carlos Hathcock was already a legend.

He taught himself to shoot as a boy, just like Alvin York and Audie Murphy before him. He had dreamed of being a U.S. Marine his whole life and enlisted in 1959 at just 17 years old. Hathcock was an excellent sharpshooter by then, winning the Wimbledon Cup shooting championship in 1965, the year before he would deploy to Vietnam and change the face of American warfare forever.

He deployed in 1966 as a military policeman, but immediately volunteered for combat and was soon transferred to the 1st Marine Division Sniper Platoon, stationed at Hill 55, South of Da Nang. This is where Hathcock would earn the nickname “White Feather” — because he always wore a white feather on his bush hat, daring the North Vietnamese to spot him — and where he would achieve his status as the Vietnam War’s deadliest sniper in missions that sound like they were pulled from the pages of Marvel comics…”

SAN DIEGO — Sgt. Maj. Ronald L. Green will be the 18th sergeant major of the Marine Corps, Marine Commandant Gen. Joseph Dunford announced Tuesday.

Green, the current sergeant major of I Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, Calif., will assume duties as the senior enlisted leader of the Corps on Feb. 10 in a ceremony at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va.

“His dynamic leadership is well known throughout the ranks of our corps,” Dunford said in a written statement. “His wide range of experience in both peacetime and combat, and his record of performance, make him extraordinarily well-qualified to serve as our senior enlisted leader.”..”

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif.  — Two Marine Corps officers killed when their helicopter crashed during a training exercise in the Southern California desert were remembered Sunday as talented pilots.

Capt. Elizabeth Kealey and 1st Lt. Adam Satterfield died from injuries in the crash Friday at the Twentynine Palms Marine base. They were the only two Marines aboard the UH-1Y Huey helicopter.

“Capt. Kealey and 1st Lt. Satterfield were both outstanding Marine Corps officers and talented helicopter pilots,” said Lt. Col. James M. Isaacs, their commanding officer. “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of our fallen Vipers, and we stand poised to support them in this tragedy.”..”
