Training aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms in California turned tragic Friday when a Marine was killed and another injured during a live fire exercise.
The combat center announced the death and injury Saturday evening, a day after the accident took place, but provided few details about the incident.

Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 departed its former headquarters at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, on Monday en route to its new base at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, officials with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing announced Tuesday.
VMFA-121 received its first F-35B in November 2012, well ahead of the Marine Corps’ announcement of initial operational capability for the program in July 2015. KABUL — When about 300 Marines deploy to Helmand this spring, they will be returning to a province where hundreds of U.S. servicemembers died in more than a decade of war to subdue the Taliban.
